KPs block National Highway for three hours over power cuts

Jammu, June 23 : Irked over the 14 to 16 hours power cuts in Jagti Township in Nagrota town, over one thousand Kashmiri Pandits including women, children took out a protest demonstration and blocked the National Highway for over three hours due to which the traffic remained suspended. Over 1,000 KPs took out a protest rally from Jagti township and marched towards the Jammu-Srinagar Highway blocking it at Kol kandoli Nagrota on the outskirts of Jammu city, said sources. As per sources, KPs claimed that the life of camp inmates of Jagti Township has become totally miserable with 14 to 16 hours power cut daily and despite the repeated pleas the authorities have not taken any step in bettering the same. They warned that in case the power cut crisis was not solved the entire population of the township will come on streets and launch a forceful agitation. They demanded that the curtailment schedule prevalent in other parts of Jammu be enforced in the township also. Expressing concern over the unscheduled power cut at Jagti Township the Kashmiri Pandit Conference veteran leader Kundan Kashmiri said "Jagti township is the mirror of the of Kashmiri pandit community in exile and inmates in the camp are the constant fear of causality threat due to unscheduled power cut and rob of basic amenities". The Kashmiri Pandit conference Leader today also alleged that the government is hell bent upon ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits. He also pointed out that inmates of Jagti Township are spending their lives in the dire straits due to 18 hours regular power cuts and shortage of water supply to the township, which has created crises among the people of Jagti Township.
