In a landmark judgement, Allahabad High Court banned caste based political rallies in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court ordered stay on caste based rallies in the state and has also issued notices to BJP, Congress, BSP and SP.
The decision could prove big blow to parties like Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party that survive on votes mainly on caste basis.
Even, BSP had organised a Brahmin rally in Lucknow few days back in Lucknow to seek their support ahead of Loksabha Elections in 2014.
